Welcome to My Personal Page
Who am I doing this for?......When I first graduated from college in Austin Texas in 1986, I landed my first job at the Marriott next to MDAnderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. One third of our guests were patients and families of MDAnderson. I saw first hand how cancer affected so many people.
My husband, Alan, and I met and married in 1993. I started "Miss Kelly's Cafe & Bakery" in 1994. It was a small cappuccino cart next to the cancer center at UCI Medical Center. Once again I had customers that were cancer patients and families.
I was personally touched by cancer in 1997, when my grandmother was passed away from liver cancer. Only a year later my grandfather passed away from kidney cancer. In 2004 my mother died from lung cancer and in 2015 my husband, Alan, was diagnosed with head and neck cancer. He went through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Fortunately he has fully recovered and joined the growing ranks of cancer survivors.
Why am I doing this Anti-cancer Challenge?....Since 1986 I have witnessed dramatic changes in the treatment of all types of cancer. These advances have in large part been made possible through through financial contributions. UCI's Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center has been blessed with many dedicated doctors and researchers. I have been blessed with the friendship of our Chairman Emeritus Dr. Frank Meyskens and our Director Dr. Richard Van Etten. They have both convinced me that these are exciting times for new treatments and cures. I want to be part of a world without cancer!!! Please join me TODAY! With Love, Kelly
